If you are looking for a machine for cardiovascular exercise, treadmills are
the market leader. Treadmills are the most popular home workout machines with over 50 percent of the sales in this market niche.

When looking for the right treadmill, there are a few basic rules you should follow:

1) Know what category you are looking for – Low end, mid-range, expert level, and/or folding treadmills are the basic categories you should be familiar with.

If you want to walk or job, a low end treadmill may be right for you, but if you want to run, then a mid range or higher end treadmill is worth evaluating. High end systems offer items like a personal trainer program and/or a virtual reality workout session.

If space is an issue, then you may want to look at a folding treadmill. You will find the Nonfolding machines are higher priced and are  more powerful than the folding treadmills. You might also want to look at treadmills with a TV built in (for example the Smooth 9.45TV treadmill which comes with a 15″ flat screen TV mounted at eye level)

2) Know the brands of treadmills and research the sites for new deals and

information. We have a list of the major brands here with links to them.

3) Read the reviews.  Several magazines and online sites rate treadmills and
rate the top selling machines.

4) For those of us who either walk or jog on a treadmill you should look at a treadmill priced under $1,000.

5) If space is an issue, you may want to look at folding treadmills, but, keep in mind, these are less powerful.
